DESCRIPTION As a manager within the Center for Advising and Student Transitions, the Associate Director of Academic Advising will oversee the academic advising initiatives and activities designed to promote freshman and sophomore success and retention. The Associate Director will focus on the quality and effectiveness of the University’s academic advisement initiatives. These goals will be achieved through initiatives that include but are not limited to a holistic freshman and sophomore academic advising program, the student academic success program, major exploration initiatives, and academic honor societies. The Associate Director will also provide leadership to the Veteran and Military Resources program. Additionally, the Associate Director will also advise a reduced caseload of students, assist in the execution of the new student and family orientation programs, and participate in assessment and evaluation activities.
QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree required. Four (4) years of full-time professional experience working in higher education with experience in the design and delivery of academic advising, curriculum, and retention services. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Additionally, excellent management interpersonal skills required plus a commitment to work in a collaborative environment. Ability to effectively supervise and to work with a team of diverse faculty, staff, and students is essential.
